Where it all began

At the Intersection of Opportunity and Strategy.

In April 2024, we launched The Hive, our very first 12-week intensive pilot focused on job readiness, financial literacy, and wellness. We worked with 10 participants, including 2 justice-impacted individuals and 8 youth, most of whom had an average education level of 8th grade. While the cohort brought energy and promise, we quickly realized that traditional workforce pathways posed unique challenges for this population.

Then came an unexpected opportunity. With just six weeks of summer left, we acquired a snowball stand in a well-loved community hub. The Summer Social was born—curated and led by our pilot participants. From choosing the colors to crafting the flavors, they shaped the business themselves. The stand became more than a summer treat; it became seasonal employment, a hands-on training ground, and a direct-to-hire pathway.

By the season’s close, the team—led entirely by a returning citizen and local youth—had generated over $13,000 in revenue, proving what’s possible when opportunity meets potential.
